GPG Setup Bug?

i have tried to setup my profile with a gpg public key. I wanted to get the challenge "Training GPG". So i generated a key pair with gpg and exported the public key to a file views like this:

After Upload the data on my profile i got a message to wait for a confirm mail. The confirm mail was received and has only the content:

GnuPG Error: gnupg_encrypt() failed: encrypt failed Message has been removed!

I think my key data is correct and can at the time see no bug on my human side. So can you please have a short look if the subsystem gpg works.

Thank you for the report.

Quite a few users experienced problems with the GPG setup, and the reason remains unknown.
I already identified a bug in the php gnupg bindings when using raw key format, so i switched to ascii armor only.

For your case, it might be that the GNUPG version does matter, or maybe the keychain can not get resolved completely.
Sadly the gpg error messages are not very helpful: "encryption failed" is all i can get from it

If i find some spare time and mood i might check into it deeper.

Thanks for your quick reply (on sunday ;)). If i can help you with any further information please ask. I setup my key pair inside of enigmail 1.1.2 from thunderbird 3.1 on ubuntu.

I did not have any trouble with this challenge at all. It went like clockwork, which makes me think is must be software/implementation related.

Gizmore: PM me if you think it would help to know which software I used.

I did this challenge just a few days ago with no problems.

Guessing from the versions sounds ambigious.
I guess someone has to dig into php gnupg code
"encryption failed" is a poor error message, which leaves room for enhancements

Your key has been revoked (before you tried to use it?)


You could also try generating a DSA/Elgamal key pair, which was the default in GnuPG 1.4.9. Maybe that is the problem.

Works now fine for me. I tried after a few days a new key and it worked so seems to be my fault, thanks for your help to everybody!

I have a problem when clicking on the link in the confirmation e-mail. I try it in multiple browsers, I retried entering my gpg key, the result is the same. See screenshot here: http://goo.gl/TjPA1

Some email clients do not display the html properly.
It helps to replace & with & manually or switch mail format to plaintext.
